April 1. Surprise! You’re moving to Hong Kong.An ironic choice of days to be told we’d be moving across the world, to a country we knew next to nothing about and a continent that seemed a world away, don’t you think?! Still, we were absolutely, 100%, without a doubt – IN. Six months later we found ourselves boarding a plane with as many clothes, toiletries and shelf stable snacks we could fit into the eight suitcases we were allotted for our move. We’d figure out the rest when we arrived in our new home for the next two years.
Life would be different and emotions would run high. That was all we could expect going into the move. But we had one promise to each other and that was to take this incredible opportunity for all it was worth – and give it all we had.
Here’s what I didn’t expect: To fall so hard in love with rediscovering life. To see things in a new light, to gain new perspectives, to experience the awe of travel, to find some of the best friends of our lives and to feel sheer joy, excitement, inspiration every day. We left Hong Kong with what seemed like a lifetime of memories, the friends with which we shared them, but also an entirely new outlook on life going forward… and while we reached the end of an era, we’re intent on embracing the next – because only when you’re open to new possibilities do those great rewards sneak up on you.
And with that – hello to the next chapter in Arizona!
