The flights to and from Cebu depart at some crazy times (hence why missed our outbound flight with Rachie in the first place), but they actually worked out well for a weekend since we flew when we should have been sleeping and got to maximize our time there. Can sleep on the beach, right?
After a quick night out on Friday to help pass the time until we could hit the airport, a 1:35 am flight, and a 4:30 am arrival in Cebu, we hopped in a cab to our resort, groggy and slightly hungover, praying they’d let us check in early. No such luck. Off to the pool we went to sleep on the loungers for a bit. Couple hours and some ocean therapy worked well.
One of the best things about Cebu – UNBELIEVABLE water! But – there wasn’t a big white sandy beach at our hotel like we had hoped for…. (I know, how greedy can we get) … so the next day we signed up for an ‘island hopping’ excursion. Don’t let that term fool you – we only went to one island but it was well, well worth it…
We had no clue what to expect since we booked with an agent who spoke little English and only had guide books in Japanese. What we thought was going to be a big group cruise turned out to be private! Just two of us and a boat crew of four.
First stop, snorkeling. The water where we stopped blew that at the hotel well, out of the water. Crystal clear. I wish we had an underwater camera because we saw THOUSANDS of beautiful fish. Felt like I was dropped into the aquarium at the Shedd….
Completely lucked out with the weather. 91 and clear skies – something you don’t see in HK every day! We cruised for another 40 minutes before reaching Pandanan, a teeny tiny island off of Palawan. Could not wait to get in that water…
Relaxation. Momentarily at least. We had exploring to do… and what trip wouldn’t be complete without a jump shot or two. Even though I’m pretty pathetic at getting much air!
Got a laugh out of Barack’s boat. Wouldn’t be the worst thing if he were transported to a desolate island. 😉 Anyway, we knew we had some sort of meal in store and were expecting sandwiches….
… but the crew actually grilled up a feast for us! Ahh but then it was time to bid our island adieu… <3
