Now who doesn’t like a good vertical hike? The day after New Year’s, it was time to put all that work on the gym’s stairmaster to the test. (Who am I kidding, I never use that wicked machine.) We set off to Lantau Island for a two and a half hour hike that would lead us up and over Lantau Peak and back down to the site of the Big Buddha.
Beautiful views the whole way up. I’ll fast forward to the Peak…
Bit foggy in the photo, but the view up top was actually very cool. I can now cross ‘climb 934 meters’ off my bucket list. Feelin’ good!! (Lookin’ sweaty.) Think the hard part’s over? I did. Not a chance… Look how steep the way down was. Work those legs!
The Buddha is in sight! Just a little farther…
Got to the Big Guy but didn’t pay him a visit as we’d have enough of steps. Opted for the monastery instead.
Ah, yes. A nice fact we stumbled upon as we were leaving the village. 1983 – Year of the Pig! Thought I recognized Jake’s snout atop that man’s helmet.
That there on the right – that’s the Peak we climbed!
