Whoops. So I see I am horrendously overdue for a post or three, considering it’s been six months and we are halfway into the list little to-do list that I created in January. (And yes, with the exception of Vietnam, we will get through the entire list before September 1!!)
I’ll start with Palawan! Just when we were about to give up on trying to get away for the auspicious holiday that is Chinese New Year (due to the ultra high rates that airlines and hotels charge at that time)….. in swooped our friends who let us in on their deal to Palawan. Eight of us on a beach in the Philippines…. it didn’t take me longer than 5 minutes to convince Jake and another 30 to book it.
Our journey consisted of two flights, a 4-hour layover, and an hour and a half bus ride to the hotel. (Actually, for some of our group, the journey also included a frantic rush to the airport, a missed flight, rebookings, and a night in Manila…) But I feel like I’ve said it before – SO worth it!!
It was pretty exciting when everyone arrived.
No wonder I always got picked last in junior high gym class.
Most of our days were spent working hard by the pool – on our tans…
…And on our tabs.
Evenings were rough too.
By day 3 we decided to venture outside the hotel and hit one of the ‘New’ 7 Wonders of the World – the Underground River.
All nerded out and ready to go!
I should just spare you the pictures of the inside of the cave since the one on the left was the best one, and to be honest, I have no idea what this is supposed to be. The gist of the tour was to show us formations within the cave walls, many of which resemble animals, plants, people, you name it. I’m guessing our guide somehow talked us into believing this looked like a dinosaur.
After that adventure we were off for another…’800 meters of pure fun and excitement!’
Well now we were on a roll and had to add snorkeling and island hopping to our list.
And, since no vacation is complete without some sort of a run in with wild animals, here ya go. Think this poor guy was tired of posing for pictures?
Nah. He put on his best smile for our shoot.
Friendly beast!
We took in our last sights of the island…
Enjoyed one last meal with the best of company…
And wrapped up another favorite vacation!!
