The town of Sedona is a tacky souvenir collector’s dream. (I’ve got Jake in mind here). Feeling extremely satisfied with our first hike of the trip, we treated ourselves to an early happy hour and a mindless stroll through town to see what junk we could accumulate on this trip. Case in point about our gift giving abilities. We actually discussed the possibility of bringing home these treasures for Christmas….
I mean, I could totally see Cait sporting the muskrat jaw and deer hooves on fine link chain…. Luckily, our attention was diverted by the Sedona Art Gallery Tour, held every first Friday of the month. Initially we were just in it for the free wine, cheese and trolley rides around town, but once we realized we should spend a little less time indulging and a little more time appreciating the art, well….
We’re now the proud owners of these beauts! (Can you even see Jake’s pick underneath all that hand?) Seriously though, the artists in Sedona were QUITE talented. Not only did we love John Foster’s pottery, but we were totally inspired by the fact that he only recently discovered his talent and now spends most of his days honing his craft!
Serious art lover or not, First Fridays was fun. Walk or take a trolley between galleries, each which puts some of their best pieces on display and invites you in for wine, snacks and meet and greets with the artists. Who doesn’t love to shop for unique (and affordable) things?! More info on First Fridays here.
