Shortest post to date? Yea, its indicative of what Tucson had to offer. We did take in a GREAT U of A basketball game (yes, those words did come out of my mouth!) and a fabulous Mexican meal with friends, but my only photo opp came the next day at the San Xavier del Bac Mission – a gorgeous Catholic church that has been around since the 1790s and STILL holds mass! And you bet I planned it so that we could attend… (6:30 am, rise and shine!)
The inside was lovely but tiny. So much so that the priest was actually encouraging parishioners to attend another church for Christmas since max capacity is 250. For the history nerds like Jake, this mission is the oldest intact European structure in Arizona, is visited by 200,000 people each year from all over the world, and is said to be the best example of Spanish Colonial architecture in the US!
